Woodbury Meditation and Yoga Center

Fall 2023 Fundraiser

Please Let Us Know How We Can Help

Which of the tools of yoga help you to remain calm, centered, and functioning during all the changes since March? Your feedback is always welcomed.

Our annual fundraising letter is posted directly below. Your donation, large or small is greatly appreciated. Kindly note:

  • By responding to this request now, you are saving us printing/mailing costs required by our previous fall fundraising efforts.

  • Those of you who are able to give generously, please do so.

  • Other methods of supporting us are posted below the fundraising letter, if your current situation limits your level of financial giving. See Improvement projects for ways to volunteer, or positive feedback to email us about how yoga is helping you.

  • 100% of your donation—mail or drop off a check, or drop off cash—funds access to yoga for everyone.

  • Donations made through our online website donation portal are also welcome. (PayPal keeps a small portion of your donation.)

We appreciate you and your presence in our yoga community.

Dear Woodbury Meditation & Yoga Center Community,

Your gift, peace in action, keeps open the doors to our community of meditation and yoga classes during this pandemic. You sponsor the existence of a spiritual environment welcoming to all, with scholarships for those in need, even now.

We offer more yoga at less cost—with bare minimum overhead—supporting people with our classes in their healing. Your donation touches someone's life.

Pandemic Update
Federal aid in the spring has kept us going. Now we are facing the winter and need your help to keep running—please know that instructors and office staff are paid first! About 50% of our regular students have returned since reopening in the summer; everyone is encouraged to return only when they feel 100% safe in doing so.

Mission
To provide quality instruction in traditional yoga and meditation with warmth and love, by experienced, dedicated, and sincere teachers. To offer meaningful guidance leading to more calm, healthy, joyful and loving lifestyles through the science and practice of yoga.

Serving Our Communities
Since our federal recognition as a non-profit teaching center 36 years ago, your support provides the means to teach more than 24,100 individuals all ages and backgrounds, the ancient, sacred methods for relaxation, healing, stress management, and spiritual evolution. People’s lives are changed.

Benefits
Medical research demonstrates that meditation reduces anxiety, normalizes blood pressure, increases self-esteem, enhances the prevention and healing of many illnesses, and provides focus and purpose in life. Yoga postures increase circulation, massage internal organs, augment functioning of the spinal nerves, and strengthen and tone muscles. Correct breathing instills calmness and balance in body, mind and life. Meditation accesses inner peace. Inner Peace is World Peace.

Celebrating You and Us with Gratitude
We do beautiful work together. On behalf of folks of all ages served by us, we celebrate and thank you. Your participation in yoga and your donation today create greater peace, harmony and healing in your life, the lives of others, and in the world. Your financial support energizes and uplifts our volunteers, staff and community, and enables our scholarships for veterans, first responders, essential workers, cancer survivors, and others in need.

Your donation, presence, love of yoga and WMYC, and continued support in expanding our service to the community is greatly appreciated.

Your presence is a blessing to us. May you, your families, our planet and all her inhabitants remain healthy, joyful, and flourish during these challenging times.

With great respect and love,
     Janaki Pierson, President
     Jean Bielucyzk, Secretary

Improvement Projects

In addition to bare bone expenses of utilities and rent, the following yoga center projects would benefit from immediate attention. Volunteer assistance, some skilled, could reduce expenditures in some of these areas:

  • additional wall heating unit in downstairs yoga room

  • upper driveway repair

  • upgrade outdoor lighting

Volunteers are also welcome to help out in the office, working on-line from home, or around the studio, both indoors and outdoors.
