A free public talk and meditation program with WMYC Director Janaki Pierson. The talk is followed by instructions in meditation and a group meditation.
Recognizing that the full potential of each person is to be joyful, calm, and healthy; the science of yoga provides practical tools to allow the practitioner to experience this.
“When a person feels full and content within themselves, as is the case with people who meditate regularly, that person is more available to be fully present for another person, be it a parent, child, co-worker or partner. ” Janaki says, “By maintaining a calm, peaceful internal state, the meditator is no longer seeking fulfillment of his or her needs. Instead, gratitude, respect, and acceptance become the foundation of relationship.”
Ms. Pierson, co-founder and executive director of the Woodbury Meditation & Yoga Center, presents seminars on Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Stress Management, Death and Dying/Life and Living, Elementary Sanskrit, and Thinking into Being: Creating Your Own Reality. Ms. Pierson has been teaching meditation for over 35 years and has been established in her own daily practice for over 40 years.
