Content, Focused and Peaceful Living: Meditation

The public is invited to attend a free Sunday evening program with WMYC Director Janaki Pierson.

In her discussion, Janaki illustrates how a simple 20 minutes of silent meditation daily inevitably results in greater calmness, focus and contentment in interpersonal relationships and in life as a whole. Understanding the physiology behind physical, mental and emotional benefits of meditation is also addressed. This complimentary program is to open everyone, and includes instruction and practice of meditation.

For individuals interested in a more in-depth study of meditation, the fall Foundations of Meditation class at Woodbury Meditation and Yoga Center is meeting on Tuesday evenings beginning on September 12.

Ms. Pierson, co-founder and executive director of the Woodbury Meditation & Yoga Center, presents seminars on Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Stress Management, Death and Dying/Life and Living, Elementary Sanskrit, and Thinking into Being: Creating Your Own Reality.  Ms. Pierson has been teaching meditation for over 35 years and has been established in her own daily practice for over 40 years.

The Woodbury Meditation & Yoga Center (WMYC) is located at 122 West Side Road in Woodbury, CT. Everyone is welcome to come earlier, at 5:00 pm, for a complimentary sample yoga class.

WMYC is a not-for-profit educational institution offering meditation, yoga, tai chi/qigong and a variety of programs weekly, as well as complimentary Sunday evening events including meditation instruction.  WMYC welcomes individuals to try a class for free and see first-hand how yoga changes lives.
